Essentially this kit replaces the bump stops and sits between the chassis and the axle. It’s very easy to fit with basic tools and people do it at home. There is no drilling, cutting or welding and we use what the vehicle has to offer us. When the AAA bags fully compress the sides compress on themselves and you still have a rubber bump stop. The end plates don’t strike each other on full compression so unlike other brands we dont set a minimum pressure to keep warranty – in fact we know you can’t hurt the bags so we don’t ask “wriggle out” questions should you need to claim on your 10 year new for old warranty. Also the bags are inflated to over 1,000 psi during manufacture and testing so we know you can’t over inflate them either.
When unloaded it’s good to have some air in the bags, after all they are your new bump stop and some cushion is nice. Some people go for a bit more pressure when unloaded for added stiffness and sportiness around corners. What you run when unloaded gets down to your personal preference.
When you load up just add what ever air is needed to keep the vehicle at normal driving height. The physics that apply to air in your tyres works the same in your bags – if 45 psi hold the tyres up then 45 psi will hold the bags up too. If you need say 100 psi then you are overloaded and that’s when you are asking for trouble. We have a rule of thumb that says don’t go over what’s in your tyres and never go over 65 psi and you will never have any issues. As it happens the bags are rated to still be effective with an additional 2,500Kg over the rear axle. So we know they are up for the very heaviest of loads but still like they are not there when empty.
This kit comes complete for manual operation …
- Top and bottom brackets
- Any bolts needed for fitting bracklets to vehicle
- 24 x bolts and washers that attach the bags to the brackets.
- The bags themselves – AAA Branded.
- Air Fittings – push connect
- Nylon 6mm OD air line – it is a lot more durable than polyurethane.
- Each bag has its own inflation schrader (tyre) valve and mounting bracket that would normally mount to say trailer plug mount.
- Easy to follow instructions.
All bolts used in this kit are hi-tensile grade 8 for maximum strength. The brackets were not only designed and engineered by ourselves but we also manufacture them here in our Melbourne based fabrication workshop.
This kit uses our new Banjo air fitting at the bag. Bec ause of room constraints the air line comes out horizontally. Traditionally the air bag industry used a swivel fitting prone to leaking. We set about engineering and sourcing a banjo bolt syle fitting with internal O’Rings rather than copper washers to eliminate leaks. We now have a robust fitting that doesn’t leak and can withstand the brutal environment underneath your vehicle.
We have our own air bags with our logo on them. Many years ago we set about seeking the world’s best manufacturer of air bags and we visit them regularly to ensure our bags stay being the best ever. The rubber is natural and not synthetic so is better for the environment and sustainably produced. It’s set with fibers in sheets then applied in opposing layers the same as tyres have plies. Our AAA bags have an additional layer for additional strength and resiliance. The steel bands are heavier duty and the alloy rings are treated so they retain that new look for the life of the bag. Our ends are straight and not wonky like others so they seal better. The bags are also pre tested to 500psi in water to make sure there are no imperfections or leaks. Safe to say we have the best grade of bag in the world so we stand by our 10 year new for old warranty and that covers leaks or any failure. We have grown to having an impressive range of bags to suit quite a large range of applications.
You might also like to consider upgrading from the standard poly to our 1.8m stainless braided air lines. These can withstand heat from being close to the exhaust and are impervious to sticks and stones. When we are problem solving issues for customers we find that leaks are always air line related and never the bags so this is certainly an upgrade worth considering. There is a box to tick if you want these added. The kit is then upgraded to not only have the braided lines but also the JIC (Gas Fitting) Banjo fittings pre mounted to the bag end plates and the JIC bulkhead fittings for the inflation and deflation end.
You also have the following options when you purchase…
Air Bag Kit with In Cab Kits – If you need to adjust pressures frequently or on the fly then you need an incab kit. If just occasional use then manual inflation is all you need. We offer a bunch of options like with no compressor, small or large compressor, and we do tanks – note you only need a tank if you want faster inflation of bags or tyres.
Our In Cab Kits include Digital LED Gauge with electric up/down buttons (means no air lines inside the car) so you can inflate or defalte the bags while you drive. Comes with a complete wiring harness so it is mostly plug and play.
- No Compressor In Cab. Some people have their own compressor.
- Small Compressor In Cab. Our small compressor is easy to mount so finding somewhere to put it is easy. Great for air bags but too slow for tyres. Costs less than the large compressor.
- Large Compressor In Cab. Our Large Twin head compressor is among the fastest most efficient compressors on the market. It’s great for tyres so it comes with a tyre inflation kit and you can run a tank with it.
With the Large In Cab you have the following air tank options.
Our tanks are aluminium so they wont corrode and have been engineer approved up to 500 psi as a pressure vessel. All the tanks are 100mm wide tube with mounting legs. There are 2 ports on each end cleverly designed so no matter how you mount it there is always 1 port at the bottom you can use as a water drain port. Tanks are not needed to make in cab kits work – they just speed up inflation. And they are only an option with large compressors as small compressors take too long to get tanks up to pressure.
- No Tank
- 1.5 Ltr Tank (100mm x 200mm)
- 3.0 Ltr Tank (100mm x 400mm)
- 4.5 Ltr Tank (100mm x 600mm)
- 6.0 Ltr Tank (100mm x 800mm)
And do you want a remote control as well? This remote kit is a plug and play add on to the in cab harness so you have an up and down button per bag on a handy remote control you can either leave in the ctr console and use it while driving, stand at the draw bar and inflate or deflate the bags while hitching up or even lay in bed in a roof top tent and get your levels right. Note this also means you could mount the switch panel in the back of say a drawer unit and just have the remote control in the car. That makes it much easier to fit. But wait there’s more – we supply 2 remotes in case you lose one.
A popular add-on is a pair of ride level indicators so you can have a quick reference to where normal is.
Please Note: AAA Suspension kits are made to order depending on your kit selection. We may ship direct from the warehouse. If there are any major delays, we will be in contact via email, so please make sure your contact details are correct.
