These days most vehicles are fitted with automatic transmissions. When wiring up either a work light or reverse alarm directly to the reverse wire of the vehicle. This causes the light or alarm to instantly activate for a short period of time when selecting through the gears.

When you need to select drive (D), but it’s in park (P). The selector must pass through the reverse (R) gear to get to drive. This means that the light or alarm is activated and flashes or beeps momentarily. It can be very bright & annoying to the person behind you but also be noisy when you need to be quiet in residential areas. Even if you change gears quickly it will still happen. But with this time delay module fitted it allows this situation to be avoided.
